Why Use Mobile Marketing?

Terry Boddie, Agency Liaison Director, Marketing Media ManagementGuest Blog post by Terry Boddie, President & Agency Liaison Director at Marketing Media Management

Should your business start using mobile marketing techniques? It certainly provides an immense marketing opportunity with the vast number of people using mobile devices, but you must first determine that this is the audience you want to connect with, and that the best and most effective way to do so is mobile marketing.

Mobile devices are truly such a personal medium that it is the main reason to use mobile marketing. People are looking at their phones throughout the day, carrying them constantly, and sleeping next to them at night. Sending online marketing messages through the mobile devices is so common today because it creates such a personal experience. This is also why if used incorrectly people can and will become very upset and offended. Pushing aggressively through mobile marketing devices can make customers not trust the brand, and actually feel somewhat violated.

Cell phones are always carried and available, and they are kept on so you will not ever miss an urgent call. This means then that no matter wherever they might be, you can send marketing messages to your audience. Knowing that the audience is always being reached means that it is important to be creative to get your intended message across. Be aware also, that too many messages being constantly sent can make the recipients feel overwhelmed, and they might unsubscribe from your online marketing.

You can also see exact numbers of how many people have gotten your message through mobile analytics, and the number who went ahead with a purchase. This system of checking is so valuable to any business trying to see if they are making an adequate return on their mobile marketing investments. With the vast amount of available mobile applications, all brands strive to reach their audience with a creative one, but true success has been found by only a few. In the course of creating your app, make certain you know and understand just what it will be that the end user will get out of it, and also just what will be provided to your brand by it.
